Thinking of making cold brew at home? Here’s your beginner-friendly breakdown!
Unlike hot coffee, cold brew is made by steeping coarse coffee grounds in cold or room temp water for 12–24 hours.
Here’s how to do it like a pro:
🟫 Grind: Use a coarse grind—think sea salt texture. Too fine = bitter brew.
📏 Ratio: Stick to a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio (coffee:water by weight) for a strong concentrate. You can always dilute later!
🥤 Container: Use a mason jar, French press, or a dedicated cold brew maker. Make sure it’s sealed to avoid odors or contamination.
💧 Add water & stir: Pour in your water, stir gently so all grounds are wet.
⏳ Steep: Let it sit 12–24 hours at room temperature or in the fridge. The longer the steep, the stronger the flavor.
🔁 Strain: Filter through a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or fine mesh sieve. Get all the grounds out for a smooth finish.
🧊 Serve: Cold brew is a concentrate—dilute with water, ice, milk, or oat milk as you like. Enjoy it straight or customize it!
